The Millionaire Murder Movie

What kind of movies do you like?

Thriller?

Crime?

Drama?

Maybe you like ones that are based on true stories.

Well the new two hours and thirty eight minute movie [2h38m], “House Of Gucci”, is the movie for you.

On November 4, 2021 Sara Gay Forden had her book, “The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour And Greed”,  brought to life by director Ridley Scott in theaters all across North America.

Both the book and the film follow the true story behind the Gucci family name and more importantly, the murder of Maurizio Gucci by his then ex wife, Patrizia Reggiani, and what led to i

The acting in this film is nothing short of what you would expect from the two stars themselves, Adam Driver and Lady Gaga. Both Driver and Gaga really did bring everything they had to their performances and did not disappoint. In an interview with Katie Rosseinsky Gaga revealed that she “embarked on a Italian tour, filming in Milan and Rome, and recently revealed that she stayed in character for eighteen [18] whole months in order to fully embody the character”, which was the woman of the hour(s), Patrizia Reggiani. Driver was also able to capture a realistic essence to his character, Maurizio Gucci, and what it was like to be in a marriage with Raggiani as well as own half of an Italian luxury brand of fashion and leather goods. Though Jared Leto’s performance is also worth mentioning. Leto performance was outstanding in the film when he portrayed Maurizio’s cousin, Paolo Gucci, and his characters supposit aloof, eccentric, and at times idiotic personality.

The set, makeup, and costume design was also nothing short of exquisite. Being a film about a family in the luxury fashion business it is a given knowing that everything would be or appear to be high quality and gorgeous. Though everything that Gaga and Driver wore was based off of what their characters’ real life counterparts would have worn it is still amazing to see such beautifully done outfits. Though we cant forget about everyone else in the film as every character has outfits that depicted their personality and  status perfectly. Even though the costume got an A, makeup definitely gets and A+. Again, this movie is based off of people who looked nothing short of twenty five [25] everyday allday, but the makeup done too Leto to become Paolo is probably one of the best things about the film. After enjoying the film to then look up the cast and see that Jared Leto played Paolo Gucci does not just show how good Leto’s performance was, but how dedicated the makeup department, and every department, was to this project. Even so the location of where the project was filmed probably outbeats any and all Gucci family drama. They filmed in Italy with backdrops that many could only dream of ever visiting, including the infamous streets of Milan, the snow capped Italian Alps,  sixteen [16] century villas in Lake Como, and many more.

Though the music doesn’t play a huge part in the overall film it definitely deserves an honorable mention. Songs by David Bowie [“Ashes to Ashes”], Donna Summer [“I Feel Love” and “Bad Girls”], George Michael [“Faith”], New Order [“Blue Monday”], Andy Williams [“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”], Pino Donaggio [“La ragazza col maglione”], José Carbó, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Anthony Inglis [“The Barber of Seville: Largo al factotum”], and many other splendid artist and songs alike.

Overall I give the movie a twelve [12] out of five [5] stars review. The acting, directing, screenwriting, location, makeup, costume, and music were all amazing and I would definitely recommend this movie to any and all who are willing to watch. If you get a seat [+$10], take a friend [+$10], buy some popcorn [+$7] and a drink [+$5], and for around thirty two dollars [$32] you can get the best seats, snacks, and showtimes to watch this film in most theaters across North America . Though most hope for the film to come out on HBO Max soon, currently the film is only available in theaters with the trailer to the film also found on YouTube.
