Tuscarora’s Battle of the Books team claimed a victory at the regional semi-final competition, which was held on March 29th in Tuscarora’s auditorium. Then they went on to compete at the LCPS Finals and placed 3rd on April 20 at Briar Woods High School.
Battle of the Books is a competition based on knowledge about 10 different books. The team members answer trivia questions about the books, working on stage in teams of five to answer each question in thirty seconds.
Tuscarora was one of the two top-scoring schools in the western district, and moved onto the final competition, which Tuscarora won last year, to compete with six other schools on April 20 at Briar Woods High School.
“The students rocked,” said Mrs. Walter, the Battle of the Books coach for the Tuscarora team. “I was absolutely proud of them. They worked very hard, and they were very dedicated in practicing.”
The Battle team held their end-of-the-year celebration on April 27 to recognize their senior team members, celebrate their accomplishments this year, and reveal the 10 books that will be part of the competition next year.
