Huskies Win First Homecoming Game

By Jack Minchew and Michael Nerantzis
LEESBURG VA- This year has been a year of firsts for the Tuscarora football program. First win, first loss, and now, first homecoming victory. Coached by state championship veteran, Coach Michael Burnett, the Huskies continue their undefeated home record, overcoming East Rockingham 34-15. The Huskies are coming off a win last week against Brentsville and Tuscarora was just as dominant against the Eagles. Sophomore Adrian Stinger broke for a 29 yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter. Junior Cameron Molina had an amazing game with three touchdowns, an interception and a fumble recovery. Lefty quarterback Edwin Mends also ran for a touchdown.  On the other side of the ball, Cortez Day led the Husky defensive effort with 9 tackles. Linebacker Chris Holoman had 4 tackles and his powerful hits caused a fumble in the 2nd quarter which set up a drive for a Molina touchdown. In their inaugural season, the Huskies have an even record of 4-4, but an impressive 4-0 home record.  Tuscarora has not played as well on the road, losing all games, one of them in a shutout against Loudon County. The Huskies take on the Woodgrove Wolverines Friday night at Woodgrove, where if the Huskies win, they  would still have an outside shot at making the playoffs with an even 5-5 record.
