In an ongoing dispute over ownership of Tiktok, President Trump has pushed back the original ban of Tiktok from U.S app stores to September 27th.

In the past few months The Trump administration has been trying to get the app banned due to the suspicion that the parent company, ByteDance, could be handing over Tiktok users’ data to the Chinese government. They believe that this could compromise American users’ security, even though ByteDance denies that information is even being stored in China.

Due to the risk of security, The Trump Administration would like to find a way for American users’ profiles to be managed by a company in the United States. This would assure that American Tiktok users’ information is more secure.

Currently they are trying to finalize a deal with Tiktok for Walmart and Oracle to have 20% stakes in the formation of a new company called Tiktok Global, which would allegedly be owned by four Americans and the founder of Tiktok, as well as manage operations of Tiktok in America.
