On December 17th, “No Way Home”, the highly anticipated third installment of Tom Holland’s “Spiderman” series, will be released. Many theories have arisen during the past year, the most popular being that two of the previous Spidermen, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, will reprise their roles. Although no credible sources have been able to confirm this rumor. On November 16, the first trailer was released, with no physical sign of Tobey and Andrew, but Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) did hint to Peter that “people are flooding in from every universe,” so dust off your highest hopes because there is a high chance for their return.
After multiple scene leaks and two trailers, the hype for the movie grew even more. Fans were so excited that they would do just about anything to get their hands on just one ticket. So when the sales opened up on November 29, multiple different box office sites such as Fandango and Ticketmaster all crashed as everyone fought for tickets. Sophomore Joelle Aheto reported that she had been in charge of buying tickets for 15 of her friends, having to stay up until the early hours of the morning just to do so.
Ticket sales for the movie broke records. According to Fandango, “Spiderman: No Way Home” beat out “Black Widow” for the most pre-sales record for 2021. And shockingly, it beat out one of the highest grossing movies of all time, “Avengers Endgame” for the most first day advanced ticket sales. These sales are amazingly high due to the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic had nearly run the Movie theater industry into the ground.
If you weren’t able to get any tickets this time around, don’t worry because Tom Holland has confirmed that he will be returning for another “Spiderman” trilogy. So there’s always another chance.
