Tuscarora Cross Country Team Places Third at States
The Tuscarora Cross Country Girls and Boys Teams ran at States on November 12th, placing 3rd and 6th respectively
Tuscarora Cross Country teams ran at the Virginia 4A, 5A, and 6A State meet on November 12th. The meet took place at Oatlands, Virginia, a hilly, fast course only 15 minutes away from Tuscarora.
Tuscarora teams ran in the 4A race along with 22 other teams; 12 girls and 12 boys teams total.
Tuscarora qualified after both teams placed first at Districts, the Girls Varsity Team won Regionals, and Varsity Boys came in second at Regionals. This is the first time the Boys Team has advanced to the State meet in 5 years.
The Girls Varsity team placed 3rd, 5 points away from 2nd and 9 from 1st. Boys Varsity placed 6th overall and was the highest placing team from Loudoun County.
Michaela Workman led the Girls team coming in 5th. Following her were Kira Hunt (12th), Sadie Dillard (18th), Paige Simpkins (43rd), Evie Lashey (58th), and Claire Gibson (89th). Workman and Hunt both earned All State honors by placing in the top 15 individual runners.
The boys team was led by Diego Barbara (20th) with Luke Getz (30th), Grant White (34th), David Bruno (41st), Daniel Bruno (50th), Brandon Stefkovich (61st), and Jared Ruggles (66th) following.
Tuscarora Varsity teams ran at Oatlands three times this season, earning 4th out of 79 teams at the Oatlands Invitational in September.
The teams are coached by Troy Harry, Aine Lucido, and Kristen Lincoln. Under Harry’s leadership, Tuscarora Girls Varsity won States in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018.
