Becoming an activist and saving millions of people isn’t the only way to change the world. You can also change the world with small actions like throwing gum in the trash. No, gum isn’t biodegradable. But throwing it in the trash rather than sticking it under a desk does make a difference. Janitors or teachers don’t have to clean the gum off; students don’t have to reach into their desks and feel a disgusting wad of gum. Just being nice to people changes the world at least a little bit.

How exactly does putting my gum in the trash change the world?

This link appears to be an advertisment for a gum company. Whether or not the gum goes into the trash or not doesn’t change the fact that it still enters the landfill and still effects the environment. Gum under the desk is without a doubt disgusting and repulsive, but does it really “change the world”?
