Hey Huskies! Here is what you need to know about what happened this week and what’s coming up.

Sports

This week saw a large amount of Volleyball games with our teams playing Heritage, Rock Ridge, and Loudoun County. Field Hockey played Lightridge on Monday and Parkview on Wednesday There was also a Varsity cheer competition Thursday the 7th. Cheer took first place and made a complete comeback from last week’s event. The week will end off with a Varsity Football game against Loudoun County Friday evening. 

Next week sports will kick off with 9th grade and JV Football on the 11th. Their opponent will be revealed in upcoming days. Our Varsity Cheerleaders have a competition at Parkview HS Tuesday night, the 12th.  All three levels of Volleyball will be playing both Lightridge and Park View throughout the week. Field Hockey will be playing Broad Run HS on Wednesday the 13th. Both Boys and Girls’ Cross Country will have a meet at Dominion HS on the 13th as well as an invitational on the 16th.

Clubs and Activities

PEER is launching their campaign for the month called Boo Bullying. Wear red on Wednesdays to support awareness for anti-bullying and to receive a piece of candy during lunch. PEER still has lollipops for sale to fund their program, each is $1. They take cash or venmo so be sure to see a PEER member to show support.

Model UN is having a coffee fundraiser from 9/27-10/16 to raise funds for their program. Come support them in this Drive-in event if you’re interested in coffee, tea, and delicious snacks or just want to help out the club. Husky Buddies is still looking for more people to join! Come join them for fun activities and an inclusive environment. They meet every Tuesday from 4-5 in room 400. Contact Mrs. Reed ([email protected]) of Mrs. Saul ([email protected]

Recent and Upcoming Events

For seniors (juniors can come too), there are numerous college visits coming up this week and next week. Check Naviance for the whole schedule and be sure to reserve a seat ahead of time. There is also the seal of biliteracy test (which is a test for those that can speak another language and want a seal on their diploma) coming up November 9th. A $15 fee is due 09/29.

The visual arts contest is still happening, the due date is Friday the 8th and judgings will take place next week with the winner being announced on Friday. 

The big Powder Puff game is happening next Friday the 15th at 5:00. Come and support our teams!

Monday will be Indigenous Peoples’ Day and will be a day off for students and faculty.

Seniors will be asynchronous on Wednesday the 13th, underclassmen will remain in school for the PSAT.
