The [14-0] Tuscarora Huskies face up against the [12-2] LC Bird Skyhawks next Saturday at the University of Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:07 p.m. With two teams with equally impressive records, this is sure to be one entertaining bout for the state championship.

The Huskies’ credentials aren’t to be looked over as they have done extremely well this past season and even more so in the playoffs. They first played Thomas Edison High School and beat them 54-6. The momentum didn’t stop there as the undefeated team flew past Wakefied and Broad Run with ease. Senior Noah Reimers, the Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, with a DC-area best of 2,876 yards and 47 touchdowns has brought the team to new heights after beating Massaponax on Friday, December 5 along with incredible support from the team and crowd, making another highlight-worthy night with 303 yards and 4 touchdowns. With the win, it marks another championship appearance for Tuscarora Coach Mike Burnett. Burnett coached Broad Run High School claiming two titles before Tuscarora opened in 2010.

LC Bird poses a formidable threat to the Huskies’ offense. After taking care of Salem High school beating them 21-13 on the 5A South Region Final on the same night the Huskies faced Massaponax, they look to gain a third state championship against the Huskies. LC Bird has won back-to-back state championships, winning the Division-6 title in 2012 and the 5A banner in a victory over Briar Woods last season. The skyhawks are tough offensively and defensively, which could give Tuscarora some problems

With mind, body and heart on both sides of the battle, will LC Bird make a three-peat? Or will the Huskies season end #FortuneStrong?
