The boys’ varsity soccer team had a successful home opener as they defeated James Woods High School 9-1 in the first game of the season by mercy rule which ended the event 20 minutes earlier. The game, which was scheduled to be played Tuesday, March 25, was cancelled due to snow and rescheduled for Thursday, March 27.
“It was a great game,” said junior Calvin Witteveen who also plays as defender for varsity boys’ soccer. It was a nice solid 9-1 victory that was played very well. The team came out to win and we executed the plays just as we practiced. It was a very great start to the season.”
Junior and midfielder Sergio Resendiz scored 5 goals, helping to beat James Woods and earn Tuscarora a victory.
“The entire team’s ability to work together was the key in winning the game.” said Witteveen
Boys’ JV soccer also came out with a 2-0 win in their bout against James Woods.
