Would you Rather…Students Share Their Thanksgiving Traditions

By Madeline Swank

36 students surveyed

Would you rather eat turkey, ham, or another type of meat for Thanksgiving?

Although you might think Thanksgiving would not be the same without the famous turkey, only 72% of the students surveyed said they eat turkey on Thanksgiving. As for the other students, 11% eat ham, and 17% eat another type of meat. Vegetarians like Katie Stankard eat tofurkey, tofu that tastes like turkey.

Would you rather watch the football game or the Macy’s Day Parade?

Every Thanksgiving, there are two major events to watch on TV: the Macy’s Day Parade and the football game. According to 47% of the students surveyed, watching the football game is the preferred option. The classic Macy’s Day Parade had only 19% of the student’s votes, but 34% said that they would rather watch both then choose one.

Would you rather eat pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, or another type?

After most Thanksgiving feasts, desserts are brought out. Although pumpkin pie is the Thanksgiving classic, other desserts are just as popular. 44% of the students surveyed said they would rather eat pumpkin pie than apple pie, pecan pie, or another dessert. Apple pie was favored by 28% of the student population, and pecan was chosen by 8%. While many stick with the traditional pumpkin pie, 20% stick with other desserts.

Would you rather spend Thanksgiving with a large group of friends and family or a small group of your closest friends and family?

Every Thanksgiving, families and friends all come together to be thankful for what they have and to eat lots of food. 50%  of students said they would prefer to spend Thanksgiving with a large group of friends and family, and 50% said they would prefer to spend the holiday with a small group of friends and family.
