Homecoming 2013 Takes Students on a Trip Through the Decades

By Zech Capco

On Saturday, October 19, 2013, students of all grade levels attended Tuscarora High School’s fourth annual homecoming. There was an assortment of activities for attendees to participate in at the dance, including taking pictures in a photo booth and, of course, dancing.

It was an eventful night, as students began to arrive when the doors were opened at 7:45 p.m. and stayed until as late as 11 p.m.

The  theme of homecoming, music through the decades, was very prominent through corresponding decorations on display. Freshmen had the theme of jazz, sophomores had country, juniors had rock, and seniors had pop.

Continuing the tradition of crowning a homecoming court, Tuscarora named its queen during the game on Friday and its king mid-way through the dance. Senior Teddy Verdonkschot was named homecoming king, while senior Lauren Armand was named queen.

Students of all grade levels attended the dance, some alone and others with groups of friends.

“This is my first homecoming. I skipped the last two. I just came to have fun with my friends, and I’m glad I came,” said junior Tristan Fuentes.

Senior Garrett Henkle also attended the dance, saying, “I came with my friends just so we could do something fun together…it’s the final homecoming we’ll ever come to before heading off to college. You don’t even need a date. Just bring your friends and hang out.”
